Mini Dino Dig Kit from Lakeshore Learning (Review)
I found myself inside of Lakeshore Learning earlier this week and I was overwhelmed. I've usually just browsed the website and sent Hubby there with a small list of Christmas gifts for Malakai, but now I was standing there is all its primary colors glory. So. Much. Stuff. It is exciting though so I need to go back when I have more time.
I was hoping to find any Black Friday leftovers and while I was waiting to check out I admired their "Impulse buys" section, all stores have them. Target has magazines and candy, Lakeshore Learning has mini activities, crafts and science projects. Malakai is fresh off of watching Disney Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, he even has a plush Arlo. I grabbed the Mini Dino Dig Excavation Kit. I wanted to see how he would like it and for $1.99 it was quite a deal.
He was pretty excited about it at first, it comes with a small block, a chisel tool and a brush. It's actually pretty cute but unfortunately he lost interest rather quickly. he wanted me to do most of the "digging" because as we began chiseling the block became ridged and even sharp at times. I was over it myself. We finally got to some "fossils" but the dinosaur itself was incomplete, I'm sure we might've lost a few pieces in the piles of dried clay from the brick.
The idea of it is really cute and we may try again, maybe a different brand and more so when he's older and able to finish it himself or with little supervision.
Have you tried any excavation kits? Which are your favorite?
